Give Your Best aims to empower people in need of women's clothes who are refugees, seeking asylum, destitute, with no recourse to public funds or with precarious immigration status, through access to choice. We want to contribute to restoring people's dignity as they choose what they want to wear from our catalogue of donated clothing, where people can 'shop' for free.
We passionate and committed to sustainability, circularity and tackling donation waste.
Were an LGBTQI+ inclusive platform and we stand strongly and passionately for all human rights.
Give Your Best was born when our founder Sol and Ilda* (now one of our advisors) connected on Instagram.
Ilda was seeking asylum** surviving on an allowance of £5.60 a day during COVID19, unable to afford basics like clothes. Sol decided she wanted to send a parcel of toiletries, period products and clothes to Ildas household, which she shared with other women in the same situation.
Sol put a call out for donations on social media and the response was overwhelming.
Messages of support for the women poured in along with tens of offers of clothing, and Sol soon realised she needed to come up with a system. That's how she had the idea to create an Instagram-based catalogue of donations so women would be empowered to choose the items they wanted to receive. Sol then shared this idea on social media asking for help to bring it to life and a few wonderful women reached out immediately wanting to support.
We believe that someone's legal status and financial circumstances shouldn't mean a lack of choice in what they want to wear.
At Give Your Best a donation becomes a gift: the gift of choice, of empowerment and connection.
Donations received by forRefugees as unrestricted funds on behalf of Give Your Best.
