Story
#GIVE is a global campaign encouraging people all around the world to give to those most in need. As part of the Who is Hussain #GIVE 2021 campaign, we are raising money to help pay for life-saving heart surgeries of impoverished children in Iraq and India suffering from congenital heart defects. This year, Who is Hussain is doing something slightly different to aid our fundraising, and we are entering 22 runners in the 2021 London Landmark Half Marathon (LLHM).
Congenital heart disease is a large, rapidly emerging global problem in child health. Many children are in need of surgery to save their lives but simply cannot afford it. The impact of Covid-19 on developing countries has made this even more difficult. As part of our #GIVE Life campaign, we work with our team in Iraq and India to identify children in need. Through the support of our Who is Hussain team on the ground in Bangalore and The Laureate Trust, we are able to safely arrange the full transfer, surgery, return and aftercare for these children. The surgery is undertaken at Narayana Health City hospital under the supervision of world renowned Dr Devi Shetty. Your donation will go directly towards the cost of the surgery itself (this includes the pre-op assessment, investigations, the surgical procedure and aftercare including any ITU/ward stay until recovery).
We started the Give Life project in 2016 and to date through your generous donations we have raised £37,600 and treated 24 children! These donations are literally saving children's lives (short documentary below to see the work done so far and how your donations are helping to save lives). In order to help cover our ever increasing running costs, 10% of the money raised by our runners will go towards admin costs.
This year we renew our pledge to the impoverished children of the world and have expanded our campaign to children affected in India as well. Your support makes an enormous difference, and gives a future to these children. Please donate today.
