Story
Good Grief is working every day to change the future for grieving kids. One in seven children will experience the death of a caregiver before the age of 25, equating to over 280,000 kids in New Jersey. Beyond that, in just one year over 140,000 kids lost a primary caregiver due to COVID. The grief, isolation, trauma, and unprecedented loss of life experienced during the global pandemic has brought into sharp focus the need for Good Griefs work.
We stand on the front lines supporting grieving children and families wherever they are, whenever they need us, for as long as they need us. We equip children and families with the coping skills they need to face grief and adversity from the start by giving them tools they can use for the rest of their lives.
Through our comprehensive peer support programs in our centers and satellite locations, our Good Grief School programs and teacher and parent education, we have served over 40,000 people in the past year. The demand for our programs is growing as an exceptionally high number of families enroll in our Nights of Support and as we continue to train school partners weekly.
