Story
Seeking asylum is a human right and communities in Glasgow have always welcomed and supported those who have been forced to flee their own homes to seek refuge in a new country.
However, we are working within a hostile environment of UK government policies which force individuals and families who deserve care and support into a lives of poverty, disadvantage and destitution. In addition to these adversities, the ongoing restrictions in place due to the Covid pandemic, means that many of the community based supports which would normally offer both practical, social and emotional support are no longer available or accessible.
We want to make sure those seeking asylum in Glasgow do not feel forgotten about over the Christmas period, by providing Christmas Care packages to our community members. Whilst these care packages are only a small token, we hope by distributing these we can convey messages of hope and solidarity at an extremely difficult time.
