Story
Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust Charity (SASH Charity) is the charity for the hospitals which serve Gatwick and the airport's surrounding communities.
Donations and fundraisng by Gatwick staff and passengers will help at East Surrey Hospital, Crawley Hospital, and Horsham Hospital, as well as elsewhere in Surrey and Sussex. SASH NHS Trust serves staff, passengers and the whole Gatwick Family who live or work locally, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Together we hope to raise £100,000, to support our local hospitals in three ways:
- To help refurbish the chemotherapy suite at East Surrey Hospital, creating a nicer space for people in Surrey & Sussex receiving treatment for cancer. Donations will help provide ten brand new chemotherapy chairs, and redecorating the whole chemothepy suite, so the environment is a really comfortable space for people at a difficult time.
- Transforming two overnight rooms for parents of premautre or unwell babies in hospital at East Surrey Hospital. The neonatal unit cares for five hundred premature and very unwell newborn babies from Surrey and Sussex each year, and with the support of Gatwick, we will transform two onernight rooms where parents stay alongside their babies until they are well enought to go home.
- Creating new or improved areas for hospital patients, visitors, and staff to rest, including enhancements to the courtyards used by patients and visitors, and new covered seating areas for people using the hospitals.
