Visit the charity's profileEvery semester approximately twenty art students participate in local internships facilitated by the Art + Film department. Internships benefit students by providing them with opportunities to build their résumés through hands-on and practice-based work in museums, galleries, and other non-profits. At the same time, the work of student interns benefits local non-profit organizations which are often understaffed and underfunded.
Participating in internships for college credit affords students opportunities that may be inaccessible after graduation when they are required to work full-time. Nevertheless, internships often create additional costs for students by reducing the amount of time that they are able to engage in paid work. Additionally, valuable sites outside of Arcata may be financially inaccessible because of the added cost of fuel.
