Why a Virtual Run, Walk, Bike, and Bid-a-thon?

This year's theme, "In Community, In Spirit," speaks to us all during this difficult time. Our Run, Walk, Bike, and Bid-a-thon will foster community while apart and support our school and its mission in the process. Part of the mission of Friends Select School is that both direct experience and the young person's developmental needs are central in the learning process and that learning should be placed at the service of society.

It is in that spirit that we will safely cultivate community while celebrating who we are as individuals. It is our hope that this event will be a way for families and friends to "ask questions, spark curiosity, and empower students to explore." It is our hope that the sparks of our community will spread. Your contributions will directly support Friends Select students and teachers through the Friends Select Fund. This year more than ever, funds contribute to covering the cost of increased health and safety precautions, such as COVID-19 testing, additional support staff, and advanced technology needs.

I'm a bidder. Where is the auction? The auction is online and opens Friday, March 12. Items will be sold to the highest bidder at 10:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 20. Sign up to bid here.

How do I participate in the 5K Run Walk of Bike part of this event? Set up your 5K page (free) by clicking the "Start Fundraising" button above. Once you create your page you can customize it by adding pictures or video, connecting to a facebook live feed, or your Strava account. Share your page with family and friends asking them to support you. When you are ready to run, walk, or bike your 5K pick your route and go for it any time between March 12-21. Use Strava to record your time and route or just share about it on your page with pictures!

What do I get if I finish the 5K? All participants who set up a fundraising page and raise at least $25 will be sent 1 finisher's medal and bandana.

How can I run, walk, or bike the 5K or bid without setting up a fundraising page? You can register here and we will send you 1 finisher's medal and bandana, or you can log on to the online auction starting March 12 and bid.
