Help us to buy kit for our clean-ups!

Can you help with our clean-ups by donating to our clean-up kit appeal? We need more litter pickers, gloves (both adult and child sizes), sieves, reusable bags and more equipment for our beach and countryside clean-ups. Many thanks!

Story

Can you help us with funding for our clean-up kits? Our charity, the Final Straw Foundation, is a charity based in Emsworth, Hampshire, that operates in the Solent area. We have been running for over 3 years, working hard to try to clean up our local coastline and countryside through organised beach cleans and clean-up events. We also campaign to encourage communities and businesses to reduce the amount of single-use plastic they use to try to stop some of the flow of litter and plastic into the environment in the first place. We run a successful schools and community outreach programme and organise community groups and events to raise awareness of the impact of plastic pollution on our wildlife and the wider environment.

Over the last year through the pandemic and lockdowns, we have been contacted by many individuals and smaller community groups keen to continue litter-picking and keeping our beautiful coastline clean and tidy in a socially distant manner. We have given out many of our litter-picking kits and are happy to support these proactive people and groups with this kit to keep on doing their amazing work cleaning up. Our stunning coasts have had a huge increase in visitors over the last year, with so many people enjoying and appreciating the coastal and woodland walks - but sadly this has resulted in a large increase in litter. These brilliant people have stepped up and continued to work hard to clean up this uptick in litter, and we are absolutely grateful to them for their care.

We are now starting to organise larger clean-up events, and need more kit to be able to run them effectively. Our funding has been hit hard over the last year, so we are desperate for donations to help us to purchase more kit - including litter-pickers, gloves (both adult and child sizes) and reusable bags.

£10 will buy us a litter picking set - including a durable litter-picker, work gloves and reusable bag. Our average litter picks in the upcoming warmer months have between 20 and 50 people attending, and we often have more than one clean-up going at a time in different locations, so the more we can purchase the better!

We appreciate any donation that you can make so much. Thank you for helping us to continue to make a difference to our local spaces.
