Story
As the year draws to a close, the FoKL Volunteers want to take a moment to look back at the transitional year at the Kingston Library, how we mobilized to support our beloved community center, and where 2025 will take us- all due to your support, dedication and contribution.
This year, in our temporary space at the Cioni Building on Crown Street, has allowed us to reach a variety of audiences and patrons! Thanks to YOUR donations, we’ve been able to:
⇒ fund the Lego Club with Children’s Librarian, Mr. Alex, for our 5-12 year old patrons! We’ve funded the youngest builders, designers, and engineers to build whatever they wish by supporting this popular ongoing club. What a delightful STEM* program!
⇒ support the teens participating in TAG: The Teen Action Group that worked over the summer to shape services for themselves and peers. They planned their own community initiatives, collaborated together, and contributed to causes and missions important to them.
⇒ sponsored the adult and community events like the wildly successful A Night at the Library with Full Moon Paranormal, movie showing with Movies with Spirit, and the grand opening celebration of the temporary space at the Cioni Building.
⇒ paid for staff training and development opportunities as well as appreciation!
Additionally, we’ve focused on developing relationships with our neighbors like the Kingston Uptown Business Association (KUBA) and others, ensuring our commitment to our community and representation of the mission of the Kingston Library.
As we look ahead to 2025, the Kingston Library remains dedicated to meeting the dynamic needs of our community. Whether through innovative programs for children and adults, vital resources for students, job seekers, and researchers, or efforts to reach underserved populations and expand our library collections, our commitment is unwavering. Before long, we’ll return home to embark on the next chapter of this ever-evolving mission, with FoKL steadfast in its role of enhancing and supporting that vision.
The Kingston Library is more than just a collection of books; it’s a hub of opportunity.
