Story
The Friary’s Allotment Project looks to turn our allotment sites into a welcoming, outdoor space that our service users can take pride in. Our three sites located in West Bridgford have been renovated to create a quiet and creative environment where visitors can help to maintain the garden, learn new crafts, and practice mindfulness.
In January we opened our allotment gates to our service users for the first time in over 10 years. We will use this outdoor space to help improve mental health and encourage positivity amongst the visitors to our Drop-in centre. We have a range of events planned for this year, including making scarecrows, outdoor games sessions, and growing fresh produce. This produce will then be given out at our Drop-in centre, or used to create delicious meals right there at the allotment!
Many people are going through a tough time, and loneliness can be a key factor in that. We are offering a space for those in our community to socialise, participate in outdoor activities, and connect with the natural environment. These sessions will run several times a week, and will evolve with visitor feedback.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated, and would go towards the cost of crafts, supplies, and equipment that are crucial to the running of these sessions.
