In Detail
The Ferry Project is celebrating its 25th anniversary of working with those experiencing homelessness and helping them move towards independent living with love and support.
In recent years we have developed a donations hub that is used to provide a wide range of items to help furnish a house, when our clients move on to independent living. Included in our donations hub is clothing, most of which homeless clients make use of, however, there is often a surplus and the Ferry Project Fashion Show is one way we are looking to not only raise the profile of the charity and it’s work, but also funds that will directly benefit the homeless clients we support.
For the Ferry Project Fashion Show, we have teamed up with the College of West Anglia to create a memorable and enjoyable event of fashion and fun.
Volunteers (or ‘Fundraisers’) can sign up on JustGiving. They will be our ‘models’ for the event (all genders welcome). They get to select their items of clothing from our donations hub throughout the week commencing 10th February until 14th February 2025 between 9am and 5pm (from the Queen Mary Centre, Wisbech). They will then model these clothes on the night. They can even alter or personalize the garment if they wish. They will also receive some instruction on catwalk confidence from a drama coach from LEADA school of drama in February as well as have the opportunity to also receive free makeup and hair styling on the night if they wish. There will be a run through rehearsal on Wednesday 12th February.
Our volunteer models will also be asking their friends, family and colleagues to sponsor them by donating to the cause on their unique JustGiving page to ‘walk the catwalk’ on Thursday 6th March 2025, at 6:30pm, in the Queen Mary Centre, Wisbech (more details to follow).
If modeling is not your thing, you can still get involved by sponsoring a model, or by buying a ticket and coming along to enjoy the evening and support your friend. These will be sold separately to the sponsorship donations and will be available from Eventbrite, starting at £5 (up to £7.50) and will include canapes and drinks upon arrival.
If you are a business and you would like to sponsor a colleague to walk the catwalk, we are happy to display your business’s logo on the screen and give you a mention when introducing your colleague to thank you for your support.
All money raised from the Ferry Project Fashion Show will go towards helping the homeless.
50% will go to the Hardship Fund, that our clients can access and this helps to pay for things they can not afford such as toiletries or a training course.
The other 50% will go to the Donations Hub and enable us to stock up with some much needed items which we are currently lacking that will help someone who has previously been homeless in setting up a new home for themselves.
£3 could wash their clothes
£5 could buy toiletries
£10 could pay for a mobile phone top up
£25 could buy a new pair of shoes
£65 could pay for a training course
Thank you.
