Story

WE NEED YOU!

Help us raise vital funds to ensure that we can continue to run initiatives throughout the Kirklees area.

The Huddersfield Town Foundation has been in operation for eight years and the remit back in 2012 was to improve the lives of young people across the region.

The Early Kick Off breakfast clubs initiative was created to ensure that children start their learning day in school with a healthy nutritious breakfast.

The Foundation proudly supports 41 schools across the Kirklees region and has served over 1.75 million breakfasts.

One of the first breakfast clubs to be launched was at Dalton Junior, Infant & Nursery school where it has been noted that attendance, attainment, and capacity for learning has all improved

Since the opening of our Breakfast Club, attendance has improved and children are well fed, which has had a massive impact on attainment, concentration and behaviour. Prior to the launch of the club, families struggled to arrive on time, often without having eaten breakfast

Elaine Eastwood, Deputy Safeguarding, Attendance & Learning Mentor

The breakfast clubs cost £140,000 a year to sustain and due to COVID-19 our traditional fundraising activities and events have had to be put on hold. With your support of the Christmas Appeal we can work together to raise those vital funds and continue providing breakfast in schools to those that need it the most.

Since its inception the Foundation has continued to grow and build on the connections with our local community and now focuses on five key areas Health, Education, Sport, Inclusion and the Trust Fund.

Some of our beliefs are that

*No child should go to school hungry

* All young people should have the opportunity to engage in sport

* Stigma should not be attached to Mental-ill Health

* Support should be available for those tackling loneliness, low mood and Dementia

In order to work with the local community we run regular sessions that are completely free of charge for participants to attend which include Premier League Kicks, Sporting Memory Sessions, Mental Health Football Team, the early Kick Off Breakfast Clubs plus many more sessions that are available and inclusive for all to participate in.

Our Christmas appeal is to ask you to consider supporting the Huddersfield Town Foundation and all those that already do and those that may use our services in the future.

The impact of your support is invaluable and will allow us to continue making a difference to the lives of people in our local community.
