Story

**UPDATE: We are SO grateful for the incredible show of support, and are raising our goal to reflect the enthusiasm we have seen for this fundraiser. Please continue to donate and support generously.**

We know what it is like to be strangers in a strange land. We know what it is like to leave our homes in search of safety--we know it over and over again through history, from the Passover story on through modern times.

In that spirit, JCUA is hosting "For We Were Strangers," a joint fundraiser to support refugee resettlement with HIAS Immigration & Citizenship, part of JCFS Chicago's family of services. Half of the money raised will support JCUA, and the other half will go directly to the HIAS Welcome Campaign, which provides direct financial assistance to families resettled in Chicago and supports the activities and service coordination of the Refugee Resettlement program.

At JCUA, we define power as organized people + organized money. This campaign is an example of how these elements can work together to create the world we know we need. Thank you in advance for your generous support.
