Story

Kilimanjaro - The Tallest Mountain in Africa!

The highest free standing mountain in the entire world standing at an incredible 5,895metres. Known as the "Roof of Africa" it's a sight to behold from the African plains in Tanzania. It's one of the largest ever volcanoes to form on the earth and lies dormant after the last major eruption almost 360,000 years ago!

You will ascend through multiple environments and climates starting with farmland, into lush rainforest, past alpine desert type terrain, into what looks like alien landscape finally reaching the snow capped highest reaches where you will you reach the summit of your Mount Kilimanjaro trek.

Take on this amazing challenge and raise vital funds for Friends Of Bright Eyes new disability support centre in Luton.

Every child deserves a chance to have somewhere to go and have fun. It's easy for most, just take your pick, football, cinema, playground, trampoline park etc. When a child has a disability it's not always as easy and generally almost nothing is available that will meet their needs.

FOBE have acquired our very own building and want to establish a community centre for the support of children and young people with disabilities. We want them to have somewhere safe, suitable and inclusive to go and engage in positive activities.

We have many families waiting for services and the majority of the families we support currently need further help.

Help us raise the funds needed to through your support, couple with available grants to complete redevelopment of the space to allow us to support all types of disability and needs. The next stage will involve establishing the services requested and required by families of children with disabilities, this includes:

- Early Years Support 0-5 years e.g. special needs nursery, supported playgroups, therapy advice sessions, post diagnosis support.

- Emergency Respite e.g. emergency childminding when emergencies occur like deaths, accidents, childbirth, family breakdown.

- More Afterschool and Weekend Activity Clubs for 6 - 18 year olds with disabilities

- Young Adult Support e.g. Activities for 18+, support with transition to adult services, independence workshops

- More Parent Support e.g. Parent Support Groups, Information & Advice, Drop In Facilities, Helpline, Advocacy and Benefits Support

We hope to provide the support required by our community, with the approach we have always taken being mindful of the language needs, cultural and religious sensitivities, impact of deprivation etc.

Please help us take this step and earn the reward of all the benefit to come in the future!
