Story
Flint House ambassadors, patients and staff triumphantly finished yesterday’s ‘Run Row Ride’ challenge, completing double the number of miles they’d planned to do… and raising over £5,000 for specialist cancer rehabilitation equipment.
The original plan for 6 July was for the team to run, row and ride the equivalent of London to Paris between them, but they did it so fast they were finished by lunchtime – so they then did the return journey from Paris to London, making it 471 miles in total!
Alongside 12 police volunteers and a number of patients, staff from all Flint House departments took part, including the estates team, catering, marketing, physio, nursing and mental health – even Flint House’s CFO, Ian Lillistone, jumped on the rowing machine.
Flint House is still collecting donations for the challenge, which will go towards cancer-specific rehab. They hit their original £4,500 target two days ahead of the event, and that will pay for a lymphscanner, which is used to measure the water content of soft tissue and track improvements in patients’ lymphoedema following cancer treatment.
Flint House gives special thanks to Royalty and Specialist Protection for its £500 donation, and the anonymous donor who gave £2,800.
The tops that participants wore were sponsored by Firefly Merchandise (https://fireflymerchandise.com
