Story
Many of us are facing a difficult time financially and small charities like ours are finding it harder to raise funds, we need to raise around £75.000, and we would really appreciate your support so we can continue to make a positive difference in our community. Are you able to support this incredible cause? Any amount you can contribute will make a difference. If you would like to help, make that one day, that bit easier for a family
A mothers story.
During the UK lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, many people struggled with only being able to go out for a short period once a day, within a mile of your home. The inability to attend appointments, meet with friends and family or go ‘out out’ caused a huge rise in mental health issues that may take years to recover from.
But imagine if that Groundhog Day existence was your whole life? Your every-day reality, month after month, year after year…
For the majority of families with children with disabilities and complex needs, that ‘lockdown existence’ is permanent. When your child requires heavy or fixed equipment to be able to even move out of a chair, needs specialist feeding regimes or high levels of precise medication and personal care, the ability to ‘just pop out’ is not an option. Even planned excursions are extremely difficult, or even impossible, as the usual sitter options of friends, family or the teenager down the road do not have the skills, experience, or confidence to help, even if they want to.
Flexicare is that friend you can call on for support.
