Give Families their First Days of Hope
Can you imagine how it feels to lose hope that life will ever change?
A feeling of ‘this is it - we are stuck here’.
It might be never seeing a way out of cramped housing, finally giving up fighting a losing battle with the landlord. Knowing full well that the money ran out years ago, and there’s no one left to borrow from. Despite working all the hours god sends, still not being able to make ends meet at the end of the month and needing the foodbank, again.
Sharing a coat with your teenage daughter, deciding who needs it most as you open the door to the bitter cold in the morning.
Not telling your Mum about the school trip when you know she can’t afford it and you don’t want to be a burden.
Dreading your son coming home from school without his blazer or having lost his football boots - how will you ever afford to replace them?
Or just about remembering, with sadness, long lost dreams of jobs and lives and holidays that feel like a far reaching fantasy now.
A teenager wondering what it must be like to go to a football match in real life.
The quickly shaken off 3am thoughts of maybe you should have stayed with him, despite the violence, at least there was some money then.
The resignation. The ‘this is it’ feeling that takes root. The hopelessness.
With your help, it doesn’t have to be like this.
You can ignite the tiny spark needed to give families the First Days of Hope.
You can be the person who gives the First Days of hope to a family in need.
