Story
You can give the gift of a better future this Christmas.
First Base Day Centre is often the first point of contact for people who find themselves on the streets. It provides those things most people take for granted: a warm and safe space, toilets and showers, clean and dry clothes, hot drinks and meals.
The First Base team also help people to move into accommodation, to secure employment and to access the key services they need to support their recovery.
Last year 616 different people used the centre. We helped 366 individuals who were sleeping rough to move off the street and into safe accommodation.
We are seeing people of all ages, who never thought they would need our services, being absolutely devastated by homelessness. It is a sad reality that our services are needed more today than ever before, with over 250,000 families and individuals across Britain currently experiencing the worst forms of homelessness (Crisis figures).
Your support for our work at First Base is needed more than ever as the pressures of the cost-of-living increase and funding cuts take effect. Please support our Christmas Appeal and donate what you can, a little really does go a long way.
Every donation made to this appeal will go to First Base Day Centre.
A donation of £30 could fund a personal care package for a person sleeping rough.
Your donation will mean that each client will be able to receive:
- A warm welcome from our experienced support workers
- Hot meals, including a delicious Christmas dinner just before Christmas day, and a cooked breakfast on Christmas morning
- Practical services - shower & laundry facilities, towels, toiletries, clean clothes
- Access to medical treatment, including optician and podiatrist
- A long-term dedicated caseworker
- Ongoing support, including training and employment, to move away from the streets and to achieve a healthy, independent life
- Expert advice on housing, employment and benefits
- Access to a programme of activities, trips and wellbeing initiatives
Thank you for your support.
