Story
Horatio's Garden is a national charity creating and caring for gardens in spinal centres of NHS hospitals to improve the lives of everyone affected by spinal injury. There are currently five Horatio's Gardens, with a sixth being created in Wales this year. It is our vision to have a thriving Horatio's Garden in all 11 NHS spinal injury centres throughout the UK.
Please Fill A Flower Pot for Horatio's Garden
Horatio's Garden is encouraging you to fill a flower pot with your loose change. See how quickly you can get to the top - tip it out, count it up and donate the total! Your support will help maintain Horatio's Gardens in the heart of NHS spinal centres for everyone affected by spinal injury.
I don't know what I would have done without it. Just being able to go outside again was amazing for me. Horatio's Garden couldn't be my wilderness, but it could be my home until I was ready to go back and face my own.
Patients with spinal injury are one of the few groups who still spend extended stays in hospital. Spinal injuries are traumatic, life changing events. Horatio's Garden is reliant on donations to maintain these beautiful gardens and ensure that activities, such as garden and art therapy, can continue to benefit patients with spinal injury by improving mood and wellbeing which can have a positive impact on rehabilitation.
During the coronavirus pandemic, patients have been facing bigger challenges than ever. Horatio's Garden has been a lifeline to patients and NHS staff, playing a critical role in their psychological wellbeing at this challenging time. Increased activity on the wards has made the calm and fresh air available in the garden more valuable than ever. Patients have privacy to call loved ones in a safe and natural space away from the ward, allowing them some normality in these difficult times, whilst staff have been able to find somewhere to recharge on busy shifts.
We are so grateful for your support, no matter how small. Thank you for joining us on our mission to have a thriving Horatio's Garden in all 11 NHS spinal injury centres in the UK.
