Story
This summer, Regenerate are hiking 20 Peaks across the UK, in an effort to raise money and continue to grow our vital services in SW London.
We scrambled up the Yorkshire Three Peaks as the first part of this adventure, then we took on 2 Welsh peaks on our youth camping trip, and now the time has come for our biggest challenge yet: 16 peaks in 5 days!
This challenge will see a group of 15 young people, staff, and friends of Regenerate take on the classic UK 3 peaks challenge of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Mt Snowdon. As if this wasn’t enough of a challenge, we thought “why not combine this with the 14 Welsh peaks?” and so our team will head from Snowdon straight to complete the other 13 highest peaks of Wales.
This will be a huge challenge for our Feel Good team, who have never done anything like it before, and taking part will be a transformative journey for them.
By doing this, we are raising money for our Feel Good mentors, and to support 20 new young people who we will employ later this year.
Feel Good employs young people as baristas, training them and equipping them with essential workplace skills that they need to succeed. Alongside this, they receive mentoring, to help them build on their skills and make plans for their future.
Our first bricks and mortar coffee shop opened on 8th June, and over the course of 2024/25 it will allow us to double the number of young people currently employed on our mobile coffee carts.
Mentoring is an essential aspect of young people’s employment with us; it supports them with their wellbeing, to work on personal goals, as well as create plans and identify the steps they need to take to reach their professional aspirations too.
Having a key figure there to support the young people has proven to have had such a positive impact on their development, with 100% of young people who graduated from us last year showing improvement in self management and their ability to plan.
Through their mentoring, young people have been able to access further opportunities such as training, counselling and getting back into education, which have helped them immensely with their development to ensure long term success long after they leave us.
To be able to provide young people with this mentor, we’re asking generous people to sponsor our 20 peaks challenge and support the 20 new young people will be able to employ this year.
- Just £20 will fund a 1-1 session with our new mentor
- £1000 funds a whole course of mentoring for a young person throughout their year of employment with us!
If we hit our target we will successfully be able to reach our goal of 40 new young people employed and supported through whatever challenges and barriers they are facing.
