Story
Join our Firewalk on 23rd February for an adrenaline-pumping experience that goes beyond the thrill! Walking on hot coals is not just a bucket list challenge; it's an amazing physical feat that will support two great causes - Caring for Communities and People and Gloucestershire Deaf Association.
When I was 18, I was diagnosed with something called Meniere's Syndrome which is basically a malfunction in the ear. And I had that dealt with through an operation but it left me pretty much (80%) deaf in my right ear. And I've never really talked about it, I don't really share it, I just deal with it. It's something that, for me, is just part of my day-to-day. - Cordell Ray, MBE
When Cordell learnt about the work that Gloucestershire Deaf Association achieve, he felt compelled to support them in some way. That's why we have teamed up to provide this incredible, mind-over-matter event to support essential services in the Gloucestershire region!
GDA:
Providing vital practical and emotional support to children, young people and adults living in Gloucestershire who are deaf, hard of hearing or deafened. GDA services aim to enable a person to live confidently with their deafness.
CCP:
The funds raised for CCP will help us provide two Chelpods in Cheltenham town centre, providing safe, private housing for Cheltenham's street homeless, as well as funding a support worker for one year. These will provide a safe space from which to stabilise and rebuild, while providing the necessary support for individuals to thrive and re-join society.
The money will also contribute to our hardship fund, which is specifically designed to provide personalised grants to individuals in a way that makes an immediate and meaningful impact on their lives.
By taking part, not only will you conquer your fear; your bravery will provide vital support for those facing poverty and homelessness AND help fund essential services to the deaf community. Sign up today to test your mental strength, concentration, and mindfulness 🔥
