Story
Our Social Supermarket has been open since July providing food for people in Norwich struggling to afford it. We have over 3,500 people using it already, much more than we anticipated but reflecting the cost of living crisis.
We provide free fresh fruit and vegetables, bakery products and toiletries because we don't want anyone to go without these essentials. All the other products in store are at low prices and include fresh, chilled, frozen food and drinks; cleaning products; tins and packets.
We often have people coming in to our store who have no money at all. As we lead up to Christmas we'd love to provide these people with the chance to shop for whatever they need. If you would like to contribute to a 'Pay It Forward' fund then this will provide credits for shopping which these people can use.
As an example, based on our low prices, £10 would provide a week's shopping for a single person.
This isn't about a Christmas treat, it's about making sure people have food as opposed to not.
