Story
Covid-19 has hit our country hard, and that includes the community of Telegraph Hill and surrounding areas. We are raising vital funds so that we can provide food directly to families who would otherwise go without. We began by putting together and delivering boxes of fruit, veg and cupboard staples - now we are team of 50 volunteer packers and drivers with strong links to surplus food providers, local supermarkets, wholesalers and other community groups - donate and help us Feed the Hill!
We provide free weekly food boxes to anyone going hungry in our community, delivering these safely and free of charge. We want to do more and continue for as long as the need exists - but we need your help.
A £5 donation buys two days' food for a family. A £20 donation - a week's food. £40 - two weeks' food. All donations will be used to support the people in our community who need it the most. Please donate now, and help us to reach them.
What will we do with the funds?
- We'll feed 200 households/600 people of our community's most needy families, including those hit hardest by coronavirus through low income and loss of work.
- We'll be able to use increased buying power to secure fruit, vegetables, tinned and dried good such as lentils, porridge, rice and flour at the lowest prices possible, ultimately allowing us to reach more people.
- We'll support families and households who are currently going hungry.
- We'll be able to supplement basic diets with fresh fruits and vegetables sourced wholesale (which will give struggling wholesalers a boost too - they've been hit hard by the closure of pubs, cafes and restaurants).
- We'll be able to harness the power of our volunteer network to ensure efficient product sourcing, packing and delivery, all in ways which are consistent with current health guidelines.
This initiative is run by our community. We are committed to working with each other, other community initiatives and the government to keep our community healthy, safe and well throughout the outbreak.
Thank you. Please give what you can.
