Story
We have moved into our new home in West Sussex. Renovation of The Stable Yard is basically complete for Winter. Our paddocks had been rested, and with cutting we had a good flush of Autumn grass when rains returned: good news up to that point. The bad news however is that a major problem loomed as Winter set in. This year's poor harvests due to drought during the summer means that animal feed is already in short supply and this situation is only going to get worse. Hay is an essential feed for the horses in Winter, but neither the supply situation nor quality looks good. We face having to pay much higher prices to feed our horses properly with the compounded feed and supplements to keep older horses fit and resistant to the cold. And it is not just feed that is a looming problem. Straw is already rising in price well above normal, and we need lots of good quality straw to keep all the horses, warm, snug and healthy in their Winter quarters. So once again, we are going to have to rely on your kind generosity to see us through difficult times. Please find it in your hearts to help our horses.
