Painful words of the wife of Fateh Singh from Himmatpura (located in Moga, Panjab). Fateh Singh developed a serious flu that led to hydrocephalus (water on the brain). Fateh Singh is now essentially debilitated as his legs no longer function fully and he even lost the use of one arm and control over his bodily functions for a period. Coming from a family in abject poverty, Fateh Singhs brothers and sisters as well as some kind people from the village helped to pay for operations and treatment which means he is able to stand up but he still is unable to walk or do the things he could do before such as work to support his family. The toll on Fateh Singh's mental health is incalculable.

Fateh Singh has been supported by his wife Kamaljeet Kaur who as well as working as a helper for people in their homes; also handles the responsibility of taking care of Fateh Singh as well has her own father (who is elderly and infirm). Due to her parents being elderly and unable to take great care of themselves, Fateh Singh and Kamaljeet Kaur live with her parents so that she can give them the care and attention that they require.

Fateh Singh is unable to work to support his family due to his ill health and his medication alone costs around 6, 000 rupees (£57) per month which doesn't include the cost to collect the medicine. Fateh Singh will require physiotherapy also which would hopefully enable him to walk and function as before which is another cost of 6, 500 rupees (£62) per month. Your Seva are in the process of facilitating this treatment and also purchasing an E-Rickshaw so that he can get out and about and also earn a living to support his family at a cost of 300,000 rupees (a one off cost of around £3,000). The total to help Fateh Singhs recovery and rehabilitation is approximately £6,540.

Fateh Singh, holding back tears, said please help me get better so that I can go with Your Seva and help others. Imagine a person who is mentally and physically upset due to his condition and is thinking about helping others. Can we help our brother so that he can then pay it forward and help others? We are supporting Fateh Singh and Kamaljeet Kaur so that they can live a life of dignity, respect and honour (which are some of the "basics" that we take for granted).
