Story

When a child is given a life threatening diagnosis, your world is turned upside down. The diagnosis effects everyone: the child, parents, siblings, grandparents, friends and wider family.

It is likely to be a long journey affecting families financially, emotionally and physically with many more challenges ahead.

Our experience was no different to any other family who have a child with a life threatening diagnosis. But what made things feel lighter and brighter for us was the hands-on charitable support received when spending some time on an oncology ward. We had not experienced this magnitude of support on other wards and soon realised that not all support is equal.

The Millie Wright Children's Charity exists to address inequalities in hands-on charitable support - recognising that some complex and life-threatening conditions receive more support than others. In some cases, families receive very little help.

The charity believes that every family should receive the same support irrespective of diagnosis or where they stay.

To deliver this vision we need your help and support.

About the charity

Our mission is to make life a little easier for the families of children diagnosed with rare life threatening non-malignant liver, renal and haematological conditions whilst being treated at Leeds Children’s hospital. We provide financial, practical and emotional support from the point of diagnosis.
