Story
There are 72,000 looked after children and young people in the UK. Outcomes for them are poorer than those that remain in the family home. Statistically, children who have experience of the care system have lower attainment levels at School, are at a significantly increased risk of offending and are up to 15 times more likely to experience issues around substance misuse. Families Together works with struggling families who have children who are on the verge of being taken into care. They work alongside the whole family to identify their strengths and help them to create real and lasting changes. Their results are excellent last year 92% of the families we worked with stayed together.
On August 14th 2019 a team of staff from our services in Sheffield will be taking the leap and Skydiving 15,000 feet to raise vital funds to add value to the work done by families together by offering young people and families opportunities they would other wise miss out on. This includes providing activities and sessions for young people and families that improve the confidence, build resilience and well-being, build stronger family relationships and help improve the life chances of individuals.
