INFD has been supporting the ongoing development of a multilingual mother tongue based programme in Tanzania, working with Mulika Africa and a group of Maasai educators. Following another successful workshop in February with the team, the materials prepared are now ready for the next step. This is to print the story books and alphabet pages, ready for training the teachers and distributing to the two schools. There has also been interest from some of the participants in having the materials for a Maasai language class in Arusha where children are losing their mother tongue because their school learning is in Swahali. These materials would also facilitate this. We anticipate printing each book will cost approximately £3.50, so every little donation really does help.
