Along the way, you can expect to experience the sights of Brussels, Lake Garda, the Alps, Slovenia and Dubrovnik to name but a few. Participants on the Dash to Dubrovnik will need to raise a minimum of £600 for the Amnesty International UK Charitable UK Trust.
Amnesty International UK works to protect women, men and children wherever justice, freedom, truth and dignity are denied. We defend human rights whenever and wherever they are under threat and bring perpetrators of abuse to justice. We protect individuals at risk, fight for the unjustly imprisoned and prevent torture. We support marginalised groups including women, refugees, LGBTI, and other minority groups.
Some examples of issues we are currently working on include:
Climate change - Human rights are intimately linked to the climate crisis. Global warming harmfully impacts our rights, including the rights to life, health, food, water, housing and livelihoods. People created this crisis, and we have the power to fix it but we need to start acting now.
Covid-19 and Human Rights - As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads, people across the world face the devastating impact it is having now on families, friends and communities, and will continue to have long into the future. This is a human rights crisis in the most immediate sense and a reminder of our common humanity and that we are all equal in dignity and human rights. We are campaigning to make sure government's protect the most vulnerable and don't cling on to emergency powers longer than is necessary to protect lives.
Individual campaigning - Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is a British mum imprisoned in Iran. Shes serving a five-year prison sentence, but she hasnt committed any crime We are working alongside the UK government to secure her release, as well as campaigning and encouraging individual actions
These are just a few cases of our essential human rights work we do in the UK. By raising funds for Amnesty International UK you will be helping ensure we can continue to carry out this vital work.
