Story
The funds will enable us to continue and improve our life-changing work. As an LGBT+ mental health & wellbeing charity, we provide a range of mental health crisis prevention, mental health workshops & low cost counselling services to LGBT+ people, plus a range of support groups, befriending, youth and LGBT+ family projects, along with community events and activities all offered in a safe and supportive environment for members of the community.
It's a sad fact that members of the LGBT+ community live with disproportionately high levels of mental health conditions. Many individuals avoid accessing mainstream health services for fear of discrimination which leads to issues going untreated and deteriorating over time. But you can help.
Take part in #exercise4elop and simply set yourself a challenge (being as serious, creative, funky as you wish - exercise comes in many forms!) link it to 2 and 5 in celebration of our 25th birthday and action it throughout February.
You can fundraise by walking, jogging or running for 25km or 25 mins, cycle for 250km, aim to raise £25 or £250, dance or sing for 2.5 hours, or do a range of exercises - hop or skip for 2.5 minutes a day or do 25 sit ups and push ups each day, take 25 virtual exercise classes, workout 2 times 5 days a week. The possibilities with 2 and 5 are endless!
FOLLOW THESE FIVE STEPS TO TAKE PART:
1. Set yourself a challenge that begins during February and link it to the numbers 2 and 5.
2. Create a fundraising page by clicking the orange Start fundraising button, then selecting the most relevant category. Fill in the page and click Create your page. You're ready to go!
3. Get social: promote your fundraising on social media and keep people updated by posting photos and videos. Remember to hashtag #exercise4elop and #elop!
4. Fundraise: it's really important to ask people to sponsor you for your efforts. Donations can be made through your own JustGiving page. If you meet your target early, why not increase it to encourage more donations?!
5. Challenge your friends: Tag your friends and family in your social media posts, challenging them to take part too!
