Story
On the 19th June 2021, over 30 brave cyclists have chosen to take on the incredible challenge of cycling the Coast 2 Coast route from Workington to Tynemouth in aid of Eden Valley Hospice. The 130 mile route will take them through some of the most beautiful countryside that Cumbria and Northumberland have to offer. Skirting the northern edge of the Lake District, the undulating roads will slowly increase in altitude and gradient as they approach the summit of Hartside Pass. From here they descend down the eastern edge of the Pennines and through the rolling landscape towards the sea at the Estuary of the Tyne. The cyclists plan to complete this epic journey, with a cumulative ascent of approx 13,000ft, in around 12 hours!
Damien Byrne, Darren Moynan and Chris Stott are the driving force behind the Coast 2 Coast 2021, and they have worked tirelessly to bring the event and everyone together to work as one for Eden Valley Hospice. We are so grateful for their generosity, along with all of the other fantastic fundraisers who are joining together to give up their spare time to raise vital funds and awareness for Eden Valley Hospice. Without their, and your support, we would not be able to offer the care and treatment that we do to the men, women and children throughout Cumbria when they need us most.
