We're in our 25th year of helping Vermont children LOVE to read!
Children who love to read do better academically, stay in school longer, and have a better chance at a good life when they grow up.
My mentor is so much fun and she helps me.
Everybody Wins! Vermont matches community volunteers one-on-one with schoolchildren to read once a week at school. In the years of the COVID pandemic, parents called this safe, caring relationship built around language and books "a gift in a dark time." Other families said, "My child has made a lot of improvements in reading. His vocabulary and confidence is much better," and "My daughter always came home with such excitement, talking about how her time with her mentor went."
My mentor made me feel happy for being myself
Everybody Wins! continues to add new schools, and recruit more volunteers so that one day, every child who wants one will be able to have a reading mentor.
I got to read a hard book and understand it, and if I was in a bad mood, my mentor cheered me up.
