Story
Welcome to the fundraising page for EPIC 5 Cyprus!
After the huge success for EPIC 4 Scotland last year, it is time to saddle up again! We are delighted to say that Edrington employees from across EMEA will be taking part in a 210km charity cycle in Cyprus on 24th and 25th October, in order to raise funds for Giving More International. Giving More International is a Scottish charity set up by Edrington to support employee fundraising. Donations made to Giving More International will, after being triple matched, be donated to staff nominated charities The Margarita Liasidou Foundation, and The Scottish Cycling Foundation. This final amount being split equally between the two charities.
The Robertson Trust are triple-matching once again, meaning that if our employees raise the £30,000 target, then the charities will receive £120,000.
This year Epic’s Giving More theme is helping people with physical and mental disabilities. As Epic 5 takes place in Cyprus we have chosen a charity there as well as a Scottish charity. Everyone is excited and has been on their bikes preparing for the challenge. As always, it wont be easy, but as a team we cant wait to push ourselves hard and have fun raising funds for these great causes!
The Margarita Liasidou Foundation
The Cyprus charity is based in Paphos where the ride starts and finishes and is already supported by Edrington employees volunteering there. It was founded in honour of the girl you see pictured who faced many challenges growing up with a disability. The aim of the Margarita Liasidou Foundatuon is to offer accommodation, protection, care, exercise, entertainment and rehabilitation to young people with learning difficulties. It provides programmes with a view to improving the abilities self esteem and confidence of disabled people.
The SCF (Scottish Cycling Foundation) Trail Therapy Adaptive Cycling Foundations Programme.
This charity provides opportunities for those facing the trauma of mental and physical health challenges to experience the joys and freedoms of the Scottish countryside by giving them access to Adaptive mountain bikes and the support pf coaches and leaders. The SCF has experience of delivering programmes for those phasing mental health challenges, and this new programme extends trail therapy to include those with physical disabilities. You can read more here.
DMBinS – Scottish MTB Health Fund
Both of these charities have been carefully chosen and we believe the money raised will make an impactful and measurable difference to the charities, changing the lives of those affected by trauma. They are also charities with which Edrington already has a connection and which are open to engaging with Edrington employees. The SCF is arranging volunteering days so we can support the development and maintenance of the trails - more details to follow.
As you will see, both charities do amazing work to help people in times of need - we would love to raise as much as possible to help them flourish and continue to provide their invaluable work. With this in mind, we have set ourselves an ambitious employee fundraising target of £30,000. So please dig deep, all donations will be very much appreciated, however big or small!
