What is Enter Holistic Healing aka Enter?

Enter is a pioneering mental health charity set up by five friends, me (Steve Davie) being one of them. The five of us have all had our own struggles in the past and now want to give something back to the community.

Enter will help those with disadvantaged monetary means, suffering from poor mental health. We will do this through education and experience of holistic modalities such as sound healing, breathwork, and meditation. We also be promoting the importance of connection to oneself and others, as well as how we can heal ourselves through nutrition.

Why is the fundraiser named enter the darkness?

I believe the first step to healing our mental health struggles is facing the darkness within. This can be a hard step for anyone to take, and many people hide from their pain through addiction or other destructive behaviours. However, it is only by facing our darkness can we start to see the light in life gain.

As a metaphor for this, I intend to do what’s known as a darkness retreat in Germany. This is where I will be placed in a room in complete darkness, on my own, with no contact from anyone else for seven days. Food will be delivered to me, but this will be in silence and in the dark. As you can imagine, this will prove challenging. No phones, no people, no light, just me and my thoughts and stumbling around to find the toilet.

I had the idea of coinciding this retreat with the Euro 2024 football championships kicking off. I am a Scotland fan and travel to the home and away matches.

When I first had this idea, we had not even qualified, but I knew we would. As it turns out Scotland play Germany in the opening match on June the 14th. This means I will miss this game and the next match against Switzerland. This might not seem like to much of a sacrifice, but given that Scotland have not been to a major finals since 1998* it’s a big deal to me to miss the games.

As it turns out, I will leave the darkness retreat on the summer solstice, the lightest day of the year, it’s as if it was divinely meant to be, that’s because it was.

What is this fundraiser money for?

We will use the money raised to help fund our pilot scheme. This will target people suffering from stress and anxiety. The process will take ten people for ten weeks through a holistic health and education. As we are a new charity, we don’t have much money in the bank at the moment, so this fundraiser is going to help fund that. We will also use the money to host smaller scale events across Scotland.
