We're a charity founded in 1895 by three people who saw the importance of our nation's heritage and open spaces and wanted to preserve them for everyone to enjoy. 125 years later, these values are still at the heart of everything we do. We look after special places throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland forever, for everyone. We take care of coastline, forests, woods, fens, beaches, farmland, moorland, islands, archaeological remains, nature reserves, villages, historic houses, gardens, mills and pubs and one of the world's largest art collections. We restore them, protect them and open them up to everyone.

How can you help?

As a supporter or fundraiser, you can help us in so many ways. Whether it's a pure donation via this JustGiving page or by becoming a fundraiser yourself and pledging to take part in our 125 challenge by raising £125 to support one of four very important projects in South Devon, all chosen to create and develop a real sense of wellbeing in all of our visitors.

What you do to raise £125 as part of your 125 challenge is completely up to you. You could run a half marathon, walk the coast path, host a quiz night, write a short story, learn something new or throw a big bake sale - whatever you choose to do, well be with you every step of the way to help make your fundraising challenge a roaring success.. The Fundraising Projects

The restoration of Agatha Christie's summerhouse and flowerbeds at Greenway (and associated garden projects)

We need to raise £50,000 to restore the summerhouse to its original simple design, retain the woodland edge shelter belt with an understory of evergreens appropriate to a Victoria plantation and reinstate part of the original path route.

Installation of an all-weather path at Coleton Fishacre (and associated garden projects)

We plan to create a paved garden path from the main house (loggia area) along the top garden to the gazebo, making it completely accessible for all. Whilst this project may seem straightforward it's actually a technical challenge due to the location, soil type and sourcing of relevant historical materials and will cost £50,000 to complete.

Restoration and installation of paths at Bradley Manor and Woods (and associated garden projects)

We want to reinstate a number of the original woodland paths through Bradley Manor and woods to create a stunning circular walk that everyone can enjoy. £16,500 will enable us to install 1.25km of pathways and steps in areas of the estate that are currently extremely muddy and difficult to access.

Installation of garden seats at Compton Castle (and associated garden projects)

We need to raise £8,500 to commission a local Devon carpenter to create and install two solid oak garden seats and a square table engraved with the Gilbert Coat of Arms where visitors can sit and enjoy the majestic views.

Terms and conditions

1. All funds donated by fundraisers will benefit properties within the National Trust English Riviera portfolio; Greenway, Coleton Fishacre, Bradley Manor or Compton Castle.

2. Should projects be delayed due to unexpected developments, e.g. we uncover additional, and necessary, historical projects as part of the exploratory phase, we reserve the right to either hold the funds until such time as the projects commence or use the funds to support other critical outdoors or garden projects across the English Riviera properties.
