The Mwebaza Foundation works to connect and enhance the educational experiences of students in Colorado and Uganda through cross-cultural curriculums, infrastructure, and community development projects and programs, all with an eye on sustainability. We connect through friendship and learn from each other how to solve problems, work together and build and an equitable tomorrow.

Our endowment will keep us in Colorado and Ugandan schools, delivering programming and projects that build global citizens! All of the programming provided by the Mwebaza Foundation occurs because of the work of a dedicated team of people, here in the U.S. and in Uganda. The endowment is designed so that a percentage of its annual interest is used to pay those employees and contractors so they can wholeheartedly dedicate themselves to furthering our mission. Without the people doing this important work on a daily basis, our 14 years of sustained effort will come to an end.

The Mwebaza Foundation has a goal of using all school- and community-based fundraising solely for projects and programs at Ugandan and Colorado schools. We have been able to meet this goal using interest from the endowment and from the procurement of some private grants to pay wages. But funding positions with grants from outside agencies is not sustainable, making us over-reliant on the favor of others to do the work we need to do. As we work to develop self-sufficiency at our partner schools, we also need to be developing self-sufficiency as an organization. A fully-funded endowment will allow us to meet all employee expenses and overhead ourselves.
