Story
Food or electricity? Food or medicine? It shouldn't be a choice. Yet millions of people every day are faced with the impossible choices of hunger.
Too often, food insecurity means making impossible choices between food and other critical needs--like medicine, housing, and transportation. By supporting the Southeast Ohio Foodbank--either through a direct donation or by fundraising on our behalf--you can help to end the impossible choices of hunger.
September is Hunger Action Month, an annual campaign dedicated to driving awareness and inspiring action to help end hunger in America, both at a national scale and on the ground in local communities.
We know that the need for food in our local community is great. According to Feeding America's Map the Meal Gap data, there are over 50,000 food insecure individuals within our Foodbank's territory; over 17 percent of residents lack consistent access to food. Hunger is real in Southeastern Ohio.
The Southeast Ohio Foodbank, operated by Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, seeks to directly address hunger in our region through its community food distributions and network of food pantries. We serve approximately 300,000 people every year and we rely on help from our donors to continue our fight against hunger.
Not able to donate at this time? Please consider volunteering at the Foodbank, or making a pledge to vote to feed America.
