Story
Period poverty and shame are preventing women and girls from realising their full potential around the world
- In the UK 1 in 5 girls have been bullied because of their period.
- In Uganda over half of boys will not talk to a girl if they know she is on her period.
Together, we can be the generation to end period shame- empowering girls to feel confident about themselves and their bodies.
We will transform a cycle of shame into a cycle of empowerment that enables women and girls to access the support, products and information they need to feel happy and healthy during their periods.

The stigma surrounding menstruation meant I was too embarrassed to ask to go to the toilet at school, or even to ask my mum for more absorbent pads, meaning I used menstrual materials for longer than was healthy As Ive got older and particularly through my involvement with Irise, I have been able to dismantle this internalised stigma.

You see for me, when I was on menstruation I would not go to school, I was hurting myself when I was on menstruation. I did not want to be with my friends, I would sit alone, but since Irise came and taught us, I feel free. I be with my friends
