Emerging Influencers is a six week leadership programme for 17-23 year olds. This community of young adults is raising money for Tearfund's life saving work in helping people to continue to lift themselves out of poverty.

The coronavirus pandemic has pushed millions of people into poverty. They are now facing overwhelming challenges as they struggle to rebuild their lives.

The pandemic has changed our world and affected every one of us. But its people living in poverty who have been hit the hardest. They are the ones who will struggle the longest to recover from the devastating impact of this crisis.

People who were making progress to lift themselves out of poverty have been pushed back into desperate circumstances. People who were surviving on a small income have lost their jobs and are now going hungry.

Read the story below how Nana from Mali experienced God's grace and can now feed her whole family from her garden.

At 38, Nana has a husband who lost his job because of the pandemic, five small sons and one daughter. And now, she also has a plot in a market garden that was set up by Tearfunds local partner in her neighbourhood. Market gardens allow people to grow food to eat and sell, so they can earn an income and lift themselves out of poverty. It has given her a new way to look after her children and her husband. This has included providing emergency food packages during lockdowns, setting up hand-washing stations in communities, and distributing face masks and hygiene supplies.
