Story
Winters can be dangerous for refugees and displaced people in the Balkans.
The lack of safe and legal routes alongside violent border controls continue to force refugees into making treacherous journeys. Many individuals are left with no option but to travel via the Balkan Route in the hope of reaching the safety of Europe. This route is characterised by illegal border violence, unsafe living conditions, and limited access to even the most basic humanitarian needs.
Winter is a particularly dangerous time because of the freezing temperatures. Here, the already hazardous conditions can become life-threatening as people have to find ways to stay warm and dry in temperatures that can drop to -18c.
How your donation will help
This past year has seen a decline in donations and funding for many organisations supporting refugees and displaced people in the Balkans, and we are in urgent need of your support. With temperatures already dropping, and the coldest months ahead, you can ensure that people have the services they need to stay warm and safe this winter.
• £5 could help purchase three sets of underwear and socks.
• £10 can go into purchasing a warm blanket to keep someone warm during the freezing temperatures.
• £20 could help keep our vehicles running, ensuring essential distributions continue throughout the winter.
• £50 could help keep our showers and laundry services ongoing, our warehouses stocked and sorted, and so much more!
Your support can help hundreds of people during the most difficult time of the year!
Thanks to supporters like you, essential aid can be given to vulnerable people throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. Warm clothes, blankets and shoes can be given to refugees, and warm showers and free laundry washing facilities can be provided. In the freezing Balkan winters, this will be so important.
Thank you so much for all you are doing to help.
