Story
The National Brain Appeal's Emergency Fund was created in March 2020 in response to the Covid-19 crisis to support the incredible team at The National Hospital from the doctors, nurses and pharmacists to the porters, domestics and support staff by providing immediate and practical assistance where it was needed.
Since the fund was launched, its remit has evolved. As well as providing immediate practical resources, we went on to support Queen Square's recovery moving forwards, as the team adapted to new ways of working including delivering crucial services for patients while social distancing is still in force. Alongside this, Queen Square is leading on a number of research projects examining the neurological impacts of Covid-19.
Just some of the projects we have been able to fund include the purchase of clothes for patients who were admitted in an emergency (and where family members were unable to visit or bring items from home), microwaves for staff to be able to prepare their own meals and the creation of a Critical Care - Film for Relatives, which has been used for every patient admitted to intensive care at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery since it was made in October 2020.
Where we can, the charity is also using the emergency fund to implement new solutions for patients currently unable to receive their care in the conventional way.
Hospital staff continue to work under immense pressure and have done so much for our families, friends and colleagues. Will you join us to show them how much their efforts are valued and appreciated by making a donation today?
