Elysium Memorial Foundation is determined to erect the UK’s first memorial solely dedicated to veteran suicide at the National Memorial Arboretum.
Ed Mackenzie, following 24 years in the army and now a reservist has lost may friends to suicide. This loss has made him determined to build a memorial dedicated to his fellow brothers and sisters who have lost their lives to suicide after they have finished their service for their country. No such tribute exists at the moment.
There are numerous veterans for whom previous military service has left mental scars, these people need and deserve our help. Those who have fallen to their illnesses should, and will be, remembered.
It is to be hoped that our efforts will also raise further awareness of the struggle of veterans, suffering from mental health issues and bring out of the shadows the acceptability of seeking help.
In addition, the memorial will hopefully provide a place for gathering and contemplation for those affected by the loss of a loved one, a friend, or comrade, who has taken their own life.
With your support and generosity we will raise the funds to build this memorial.
