Edna Adan University Hospital in Hargeisa, Somaliland is a story of resilience. Built on a former killing ground during the war, it is now a major referral hospital that treats patients from all over the Horn of Africa. Whereas its students were previously taught under the shade of the tree and writing in the sand, it now boasts its very own university, the Edna Adan University, where health professionals are trained. Since its founding in 2002, Edna Adan University Hospital has treated 66,000 patients and trained more than 1,000 midwives. Both the Hospital and the University have been expanding over the years, offering more services and opening up more medical faculties. In 2015, the Hospital's X-Ray department opened, and to date, more than 2,000 patients have been seen by this department. Today, X-Ray services can be improved thanks to the purchase and installation of a C-Arm X-Ray, needed for the operating theatre, mainly for orthopedic surgery. The C-Arm X-Ray has the ability to take a picture from any angle, therefore making the experience more comfortable for the patient and easier for the hospital staff. Thanks to your support, we can continue to improve patient care in one of the poorest areas of the capital of Somaliland.
