Story
In remote areas of Pakistan there is a real need for basic homes for families of widows and orphans, with no source of income and in a harsh climate these families are struggling to survive from day to day. This Ramadan we are looking to raise funds for 10 homes which we can build and house widows and orphans. This will provide stability and a chance to improve their lives. We are hoping this will be the first of many such schemes as this will become the blueprint for others.
Cost to build each house is approx £3,000 therefore we require £30,000 for 10 houses. As always any short falls will be covered by us via other resources. The whole project will be overseen by one of our Trustees from the UK who will be in Pakistan .
We will build the small scheme which will contain the 10 homes with gardens to grow vegetables, play area for the children. One section will be allocated to have sustainable protein like chickens and guinea fowl. Each house will be 1000 square feet with eco friendly furniture & furnishings with electricity supply through solar panels running lights and fans. The homes will be energy efficient. We will use waste plastic bottles for construction? Yes, it is difficult to think of a bottle as a brick. But a mud-filled or air-filled bottle is as strong as a brick and whatever you can do with a brick, you can do with a bottle too and it has lots of advantages too...
Advantages of Plastic Bottles vs. Bricks Low cost & Bioclimatic Non-brittle (unlike bricks) Absorbs abrupt shock loads - Since they are not brittle, they can take heavy loads without failure. Green construction and Less construction material.
