A New and Vibrant Spirit
Erlestoke & Coulston Cricket Club has grown from strength to strength over recent years.
A new and vibrant spirit is energising the club and we have continued to grow and developed as a result. We now run teams on Wednesday evenings, Sunday afternoons and a Saturday League side. New players of all ages and talents from local villages have joined the club and our playing numbers are now stronger than they have ever been.
Our junior section continues to flourish and our supportive village Friends of the Club numbers have now grown to over 50 strong.
Growing Stronger, Together
The club is growing stronger, but it has ambitions to grow even more.
The Walled Garden is a wonderful cricket ground for old and young cricketers alike and, in partnership with Wiltshire Cricket, we plan to open the ground up to even more representative junior games throughout the summer.
If we are to realise the club’s ambitions, then we need to build a new pavilion that is worthy of them.
The cricket club has been fundraising for the prospect of our new pavilion for some time and has raised an impressive £40,000 towards the cost of the build.
These savings will allowed us to pay for all the groundworks and foundations and some of the construction build, but we still need to raise a further £120,000 to see the new pavilion completed and for it to begin to play its active part in the history of the cricket club and the local community.
Every donation we receive helps us move towards our goal of a new pavilion up at the Walled Garden and a wonderful new village amenity for all to enjoy and share.
Community Minded
In a village that is short of practical and accessible meeting places, we hope the new cricket club pavilion will be a valued and welcome new community asset.
The proposed new pavilion build is supported by the Parish Council and Wiltshire Cricket and fits in with the Wiltshire Playing Fields Strategy of Wiltshire Council.
Once completed, the new pavilion will be an amazing venue, available for hire and use by local village groups and organisations for meetings and events.
The club will also continue to support and host local activities and organisations at the ground as part of its commitment to enhancing and supporting a vibrant, inclusive and welcoming local community.
Environmentally Friendly Design
Design by Chalk Architects, the new pavilion will be a traditional design build predominately from timber construction elevated on a brick plinth and located in the north-east corner of the ground.
It will have large changing rooms, a spacious club room and shelter from the bad weather. A decking will surround the pavilion which will, along with the pavilion itself, be fully accessible.
Can you help us achieve our target?
We are now looking for donations towards the building of the new pavilion to help us achieve our goals to improve the ground’s facilities, amenities, ambience and accessibility.
We welcome any donation, large or small, and its offer will ensure that the beauty and wonder of the Walled Garden remains a local community asset for all to enjoy and that village cricket will always be played in its unique grounds, now and for far into the future.
