Story
First Tee-Greater Baltimore is a character education program aimed at helping change the trajectory of greater Baltimore youth. The foundation we have built in the communities we serve, is strong. With the help of our Learning Centers at Clifton Park and Forest Park Golf Courses our coaches have been able to introduce youth to the game of golf, and present national and scholarship opportunities to our students, early on. Through these spaces, we have been able to facilitate a practice ground for personal growth for our students that allows them to build character and better navigate the ongoing challenges of todays world.
In the past year:
-Our students Varada and Kendall have been awarded Evans Scholarships. The Evans Scholarship is a highly competitive, four-year, full tuition and housing scholarship awarded by the Western Golf Association. Varada is currently in her second semester at the University of Maryland, College Park as she pursues a degree in Education. Kendall will be joining Varada at College Park, this fall as she pursues a degree in pre-Medicine.
-Our student Malachai has received a full scholarship to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He has been accepted into the PGA Program and will be competing on the schools golf team this fall.
-Colin and Syndee were selected to participate in the PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach. The tournament is televised internationally on the golf channel and we are proud to share that Colin finished 1st in the Boys Division.
-Our Chapter participated in the 2021 BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club. Students, and volunteers managed a snowball stand on the property during the week of the Championship. Our students also participated in a Golf Clinic hosted by Charl Shwartzel prior to the tournament.
