Story
One day, COVID-19 will pass, but the devastating effects of Duchenne muscular dystrophy will remain.
The COVID-19 pandemic has decimated our fundraising income, but the demand for our life-changing support has increased exponentially.
Duchenne is a severe, life-limiting muscle wasting condition, which affects the heart and lungs and is 100% fatal. With a life-expectancy of only 30 years old, the families of these precious children and young people living with Duchenne are in crisis. Each of the 2,500 affected children are considered in the extremely vulnerable section of the UK community.
We are providing a life-line of support, information and hope to these families in their darkest times. Their fear is unprecedented, since many of their children require breathing apparatus to simply survive, the threat of the COVID-19 hangs heavily over these brave parents heads. They are desperate for our help, support, sometimes just a shoulder to cry on.
But, our charity is suffering, we stand to lose £150,000 in income from cancelled fundraising events this summer alone. As a small charity, we simply cannot afford to lose such monumental amounts, and still continue to deliver the vital work to our community.
Please help us during our toughest months. Set up a fundraiser within your local community, with your friends online or get sponsorship for your daily exercise hour. Whatever you choose to do, thank you for your financial support to help us keep serving our incredible community.
