Rebuilding the House of Allah from the Effects of COVID-19
Assalamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah
We pray that you and your loved ones are safe and well.
Darul Ummah literally means the 'House of the Community'. Ever since 1997, Darul Ummah has been the home to many pioneering educational projects, da'wah initiatives, youth and recreational activities, and it has been a place of spiritual solace and upliftment for the entire community.
Last Ramadan, at the height of the global pandemic, when the Masajid were closed, we came to you with an online appeal. You responded to our call with an amazing generosity and raised over £117,000. Allahu Akbar!
Your donations have helped us to completely renovate the Sisters' prayer facilities and upgrade the wudu, toilet and shower areas. Your donations have also helped us to cover the increasing cost of maintenance, cleaning and hiring of security personnel to keep the Masjid COVID safe. We have included some photos (see below) of the completed and ongoing works at the Masjid.
Alhamdulillah, the Houses of Allah have opened their doors once again, and we are truly privileged in this Ramadan to be able to congregate and pray the Five Daily Prayers and Tarawih in our Masajid.
The past year has been unprecedented, strenuous and challenging for our entire community. During this very difficult time, Darul Ummah had maintained many of its key services. Our Imams continued to deliver regular Islamic lectures, classes and guidance through social media channels. Our schools continued to educate the next generation of Muslims. Our Community Hub has been more active than ever in providing essential food and support to the most vulnerable.
This Ramadan, we have come to you with an appeal to raise £125,000 inshaAllah. This will help us to upgrade the Masjid's sound systems, and modernise the visual and streaming systems. Your donations will also contribute towards the staff pay, cleaning, security, and sustaining and developing of community projects and services throughout the year.
This is where we need your help! Allah reminds us in the Glorious Qur'an:
Those who spend their wealth in Allah's cause are like grains of corn which produce seven ears, each bearing a hundred grains. [2:261]
O you who have believed, spend from that which We have provided for you before there comes a Day in which there is no exchange [2:254]
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad gives glad tiding to those who give:
If anyone gives as Sadaqa the equivalent of a date from that (earning) earned honestly, for Allah accepts that which is lawful, the Lord would accept it with His Right Hand, and even if it is a date, it would foster in the Hand of the Lord, as one of you fosters his colt, till it becomes bigger than a mountain. [Sahih Muslim]
In this blessed month of Ramadan - where the reward for every good deed is multiplied - we urge you to extend your hands of generosity for the House of Allah. Together, we will rebuild our Masjid from the effects of COVID-19 inshaAllah.
The acts most pleasing to Allah are those which are done continuously, even if they are small. [Sahih Muslim]
Please continue your support by setting up a regular standing order. May Allah bless you, your family and your loved ones with abundance of wealth, prosperity and peace. Ameen
