Drive For Change: Foodbank Van Appeal 2025

Edinburgh Food Project is raising the money needed to buy a new (well, new-ish) van so that no foodbank delivery is missed, and so that people who are struggling can feed themselves and their families.
Edinburgh Food Project is raising the money needed to buy a new (well, new-ish) van so that no foodbank delivery is missed, and so that people who are struggling can feed themselves and their families.
Edinburgh Food Project’s vans cover 16,000 miles per year all over the city, picking up 180,000 kgs of donations from supermarkets, offices, churches, and schools, and delivering around 20,000 parcels of emergency food to over 5,000 people in crisis through our seven foodbank centres.
If you have ever given a tin of beans or a packet or pasta to the foodbanks then it is likely that it spent some time in the back of a van on the road with one of our volunteer drivers Bill, Willie, Gary, Jim, Ian, Judy, John, Dave, Jason, Scott, and of course their buddies!
Sadly, the foodbank’s big old van is no longer up to the job – it spends more time at the garage than out and about, and it isn’t even LEZ compliant, so there is an urgent need to replace it.
Will you help buy a new van to help the foodbanks get emergency food to those who need it most?
Please donate to the Foodbank Van Appeal today and help to deliver support and drive change.
The small print: If we raise more than we need then we will spend any additional donations on other overheads like the upkeep of the van or the rent on the warehouse. If we don’t raise the full amount we will need to dip into other pots of funding to make up the shortfall so that we can go ahead and buy the van without compromising the service we provide to people in crisis.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
