Story
As-Salāmu alaykum wa-ramatu -llāhi wa-barakātuh.
Dover Cultural Centre was set-up in 2012 to establish the FIRST Masjid in Dover. We are a small community where Muslims make up less than 0.6% of the population in Dover. We therefore rely on the generosity of the wider Muslim ummah as a charity.
The registered charity was formed in the hope of allowing the town's Muslim community to have a Masjid at their doorstep and a place to develop and strengthen their Emaan, as well as to ensure generations of Muslims are brought up in the shade of Allah (SWT)'s house.
Allahmdulillah! with Allah (SWT)'s blessings and through everyone's duas, support and kind donations over the years, we purchased the ideal property for the Masjid last Ramadan.
As you can see from the photos on the page, we have started the works to convert the property into an all purpose Masjid. We will soon run out of money, however, and require further funding to complete the works, including:
- Converting the three prayer rooms into one large prayer hall;
- Wudhu khanna;
- Washroom facilities;
- Musalla (prayer carpet);
- Mehrab and mimbar;
- Decorative work; and
- Implementing health and safety measures including fire alarms.
We also have £50,000 qarz-e-hasan to repay in order to make Allah SWT's house debt free.
Despite the ongoing works, we have managed to hold prayers at the Masjid alhamdulillah. Please make dua that this continues and increases until the end of time.
We are now pleading with the Muslim Ummah to once again show their generosity and kindness by supporting us in our final stages of completing the Masjid. Donations were raised from all corners of the world once people heard about our initiative. This is the Ummah's Masjid in the truest sense, please help your Masjid in these final stages and fully establish the first Masjid in Dover.
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said whoever builds a Mosque for the sake of Allah (SWT), Allah (SWT) will build for him a house in Jannah. Donating towards a Masjid is an accepted form of Sadaqah Jariyah; a type of donation that attracts a continuous, perpetual reward. The Prophet of Allah (SAW) also mentioned, when a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (a continuous charity), or knowledge from which others benefit, or a righteous child who prays for him. Sadaqah Jariyah is a highly profitable investment; the donor benefits every single time an individual prays in the Masjid or acquires beneficial knowledge whilst at the Masjid. It is a source of reward for the donor throughout the remaining days of their life and the reward continues to be written for them even after their death.
As well as that, charity increases your wealth in this world and never decrease it. So please help us build a Masjid in an area where it is needed the most and help the local community. Please remember, quantity here matters not. You shall InshaAllah be rewarded for as little as you can afford.
Building Masaajid is one of the most noble and beautiful forms of charity and a vital component of a Muslim community. The first thing the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) did after migrating to Madinah was build a Masjid. Please donate generously in this blessed month of Ramadhan.
May Allah grant our community with a Masjid in which we can worship him and be close to him and may this property be that Masjid. May this property serve the Muslim Ummah with a place to pray, worship the Creator and strengthen their Emaan .May this Masjid continue to benefit others and may others, including generations yet to come, benefit from it Insha'Allah. May Allah make this Masjid a success and protect it until the day of Judgement. May Allah accept this Masjid, its visitors, its donors and everyone connected to it. May Allah make this Masjid a means of Sadaqah Jariyah for every person who assisted in this cause. Ameen.
Jazakallah Khair.
